Vikings Drop Two to #7 San Jose St

The Portland State Vikings hockey team lost 6-0 and 10-3 to #7 San Jose St. Friday and Saturday night at Sharks Ice in San Jose, California.


Vikings Sweep Boise State With 10-1 Win

The Portland State Vikings hockey team finished the sweep of the Boise State Broncos, taking the fourth game in a row with a 10-1 win Saturday night at the Idaho Ice World in Boise, Idaho. .

The Viks will be on the road this weekend against #7 San Jose St.


Viks Defeat Boise State, Look for Sweep Tonight

The Portland State Vikings hockey team overcame the Boise State Broncos 5-2 Friday night at the Idaho Ice World in Boise, Idaho. Anthony Libonati led the offense with two goals and one assist. Tucker Dougherty had one goal and three assists. Joe Wendt finished the game with one goal and one assist. Brock Johnson also scored for the Vikings. Ryan Stanchfield stopped 14 Bronco shots. The Viks had 38 shots on goal.

The Viks look to complete the sweep tonight. Puck drops at 7pm.


Viks Pick Up Win Over Weekend

The Portland State Vikings played four games in four days ending with a 16-4 win over Central Washington on Sunday. Playing with a short roster the Viks fell in a shootout to Long Beach State at home on Thursday and then travelled to Eastern Washington University to lose twice Friday and Saturday. The Vikings last home games will be this weekend against Boise State University.


Vikings Sweep #15 Ranked Idaho on the Road

December 4th and 5th, 2009

The Portland State Hockey team swept the #15 ranked University of Idaho Vandals 9-8 and 7-4, Friday and Saturday night in Cheney, Washington.

Anthony Libonati lead the Vikings with 5 goals on the weekend. Levi Younger scored 4 goals. Both Alex Zsenyuk and Tucker Dougherty had 5 assists.

The Vikings' will return in January with a home game Thursday the 7th and then go on the road the 8th and 9th against #4 ranked Eastern Washington.


Vikings Overcome Idaho 8-5

The Portland State Hockey team overcame the University of Idaho Vandals 8-5, Sunday afternoon at Valley Ice Arena in Beaverton, Oregon.

Hunter Levengood led the Vikings offense with 2 goals and 2 assists. Goalie Ryan Stachfield stopped 52 Vandal's shots. Brock Johnson earned his first point as a Portland State Viking, assisting Brandon Aiken's slap shot goal for the first score of the game.

The Vikings' next games will be on the road against Idaho, December 5th and 6th. The VIkings are now 4-3 in ACHA games and 5-3 overall.


Vikings Donate Over 600 Cans of Food to the Oregon Food Bank

The Portland State Vikings want to thank the fans and supporters who donated cans of food to the PSU Hockey Can Food Drive this past weekend.

The team took over 600 cans of food on Monday to the Oregon Food Bank.


Viks Fall in Second Game 6-2

The Portland State Vikings lost the second game of the weekend series to #14 Oregon 6-2 Saturday night at Valley Ice Arena.

Huntyer Levengood and Tucker Doughtery had the VIkings to goals which came in the 3rd period. The Viks had 38 shots on goal. Goalie Ryan Stanchfield stopped 30 Oregon shots.

The Vikings (3-3) will next play the University of Idaho, Sunday at 3:15pm at Valley Ice Arena.


Oregon Holds Off Vikings Come Back

November, 6th 2009

The Portland State Vikings hockey team's 3rd period drive wasn't enough to overtake Oregon in the 4-6 loss at Valley Ice Arena in Beaverton, Friday night.

Anthony Libonati and Tucker Dougherty both scored in the 3rd period to bring the score within one. With thirty seconds left the Viks pulled goalie Ryan Stanchfield, but failed to tie the game as Oregon scored the empty-netter to seal the win.

After the first period the score was tied at one with an Oregon goal by Sam Cehula and a Vikings goal by Tucker Dougherty. Dougherty had 2 goals on the night. In the second period Oregon scored at 12:24 from a shot by center Jaret Cicerello. The Viks answered back with Levi Younger's goal at the the 9:26 mark. Oregon then scored three unanswered goals to finish off the second period.

Goalie Ryan Stanchfield stopped 26 Oregon shots. The Viks had 43 shots on Oregon. Defenseman Alex Zsenyuk had four assists. Captain Anthony Libonati had one goal and one assist.

Vikings Fall to Western Washington

The Portland State Vikings hockey team suffered a 9-2 loss against Western Washington University Friday night at Valley Ice Arena in Portland. Cyrus Phipps made his first start in net stopping 43 shots. Levi Younger and Tucker Dougherty scored the only two goals for the Viks. The Viks had 51 shots on WWU and will continue the matchup on Saturday at 7pm.


Vikings Take 2nd Game from UW 7-3

Vikings Win 8-4 in Seattle

The Portland State Vikings hockey team beat the University of Washington Huskies 8-4 Friday night at Olympicview Ice Arena in Seattle. The Vikings, lead by Anthony Libonati, took an early lead in the first period with his two goals and a third by his linemate Joe Wendt. In the second period the Viks fell into penalty trouble and gave up two power play goals. Hunter Levengood answered back with a powerplay goal assited from Alex Zsenyuk and Levi Younger. Vikings Hire Head Coach Ross Gale

The Portland State Vikings Hockey Team hired former player Ross Gale to be the new Head Coach. Gale played two seasons with the Vikings at defense.

Gale also played five seasons in the Northern Pacific Junior Hockey League for the Eugene Thunder and the Fort Vancouver Pioneers. With the Pionerrs he won the NOR-PAC Title in 03-04.
